Your First Treatment

We ensure all our new patient's feel welcome, safe and taken care of.

We will begin by taking a full case history which will include asking you questions about your current complaint, lifestyle, work routine, past medical history and family history.

For diagnosis, we will examine your muscles, nerves and joints in areas which may be contributing to your pain, use clinical orthopaedic tests and ask you to do a few movements to narrow down which structures could be involved.

From there, the diagnosis will be explained to you in plain English, the best treatment plan for you and how many sessions we believe it will take to resolve. You will also be given advise about how to help prevent further injury or re-injury to give you the best chance of a rapid recovery.

Time permitting, we shall begin treatment and give you some exercises to help the treatment process.

For those visiting an Osteopath for the first time it is advised if possible that patient's bring shorts and a t-shirt/vest top in order to accurately assess, examine and treat your complaint. A clean gown will be available to change in to as an alternative.

Follow Up Appointments

During follow ups, appointments consist of a very brief 'how have you been since the last time we saw you' and discussion of any new symptoms. This should last no more than 5 minutes.

The rest of the appointment is filled with treatment and additional tips to help your treatment further.

£35 - Up to 30 Minutes

Is Treatment Painful?

Our Osteopaths work very hard to make treatment as painless as possible, but you may experience some discomfort during and after treatment.

Your osteopath will warn you if they think that the technique that they are about to use is likely to be uncomfortable and will stop if you tell them that you are feeling too much pain.

Following treatment, about half of patients report some mild soreness in the area of their body that was treated, this can usually be relieved with an over the counter pain killers or cold pack (available at the clinic) and should ease/go away within 48 hours.

If you experience serious or unusual symptoms after treatment you should contact your osteopath straight away for advice.
