When it comes to Wrist Pain, speak to the professionals at Optimal Osteopathy.
What You Need To Know
Here at Optimal Osteopathy, we know that Wrist Pain is most commonly due to overuse/repetitive activities, such as gripping a steering wheel, texting, using a screwdriver, doorknob, cash register job, keyboard typing or painting.
Trauma, such as a fall or knock to the wrist, or arthritis can also cause pain.
Symptoms can include pain which is aggravated with grasping an object or using the wrist against resistance, a weaker grip, constant ache, especially at night or sharp pain on moving the wrist.
If there is a trauma involved, there can be swelling or the wrist might 'not feel right' or move smoothly. Arthritis can also cause swelling and a grating noise in the wrist joint.
When you come to visit us here at Optimal Osteopathy your Osteopath will work with you to fully understand what the cause of your wrist pain is and how it is best managed.
Your Osteopath will use hands-on techniques including:
- Joint mobilisation and manipulation (allow the joints to move more freely.)
- Deep soft tissue massage (AKA Neuromuscular and Muscle Energy Technique.)
- Tailor made exercise and stretching programme to keep the wrist pain at bay.
If your wrist pain occurs with a specific activity, your Osteopath will give you advise on how to best manage the pain while you get on with what you need to do.
